Visit to an Old Age Home

On the occasion of World Elderly Day, on 1st October, 2018, the students of Ryan Global School, Kundalahalli visited St. Anthony’s Home for the Aged in Bandra to spend some time with the residents and to build everlasting memories.
Students started the day with the Bible reading by Khushi Gupta, Lord’s Prayer and Special Prayer by Khushee Bhatt. The students then performed prayer songs for the residents and invited them to sing and dance. The residents were then invited to cut cakes with the students and the cakes were to be distributed to them during their snack time, along with juice.
Students also distributed various items like chocolates, biscuits, wafers, sweets, toothbrush, toothpaste, hand wash soap, bath soaps and towels.
The morning concluded with a vote of thanks by Khushee Bhatt and with the students taking time to interact with each resident and taking their blessing. The residents were very happy with the performances and asked the students to come back and visit them soon.
It was a glorious morning where our students learnt the value of spending quality time with the elderly. They were moved by the kindness and sweetness of all the residents and their willingness to interact and give their blessings to them.

Community Outreach Drive for Kerala Flood Disaster

Developing students’ characters and educating them to be caring and compassionate is quite necessary. Children learn kindness, respect, and empathy: internal strengths that connect them to others through Community Service Programmes. The programmes help build strengths like honesty, responsibility, fairness, and compassion — internal assets that lead to happiness and well-being. At Ryan Global School Kundalahalli, we believe in giving back to society and building kind and caring characters of the nation’s future citizens.
When the nation witnessed the most devastating natural disaster in Kerala, and every Indian citizen geared to help the flood victims in cash or kind, our school was not left behind. Partnering with ‘Celebration Club’, the Ryan Global School, Kundalahalli set up a collection centre for contribution to Kerala Flood Disaster victims. Generous amounts of rice, dal, sugar, ready-to-cook food packets were donated by parents, teachers and students. The members of students’ council toiled for all these and a truckload of necessary food items were sent to the club from where the arrangements were made so that help could reach the people of Kerala.
Through this Community Outreach activity, the students not only showed their caring sides but also learnt innovative ways of helping others.
Date with the ocean
Ryan Global School Kundalahalli organised an environmental and interactive session on the 16th of January, 2019 to discuss the perils of plastic use. It was headed by none-other than the United Nation Champions of the Earth awardee, Adv. Afroz Shah. Mr Afroz Shah has actively initiated the clean-up of Versova Beach and he continues to take such environment-related issues and work over it with his supportive volunteering team in Mumbai.
The session began with Shah planting a Custard Apple sapling. Shah’s team then showcased a video - “Pyaar Hai Mujhe” about the beautiful coastline of Mumbai and the exquisite Olive Ridley turtles, delighting the children. The team focused on educating the students on waste management, which plays a very important role in the curbing of these hazardous issues. The students were moved when they saw the plight of ocean life and also accompanied Afroz and team on a beach clean-up activity in the shores of Mumbai.

Reflecting on this thought, young environmentalists of Ryan Global School, Kundalahalli pledged to serve the environment by participating in a drive to SAY NO TO FIRECRACKERS. The drive was held in the Lokhandwala area and was conducted just before Diwali. Our students occupied the crowded market area with placards and spoke to local commuters about the ill effects of firecrackers to the environment. They asked each one to pledge to not use firecrackers or to use eco friendly firecrackers this year and in the future.
The students believed that their efforts would be fruitful and people would listen to their pleas of saving the beautiful planet we live on.

Students of Ryan Global School, Kundalahalli embrace this thought and take the protection of the environment as their own responsibility. To ensure the protection of our environment against plastic, they participated in a drive to SAY NO TO PLASTIC. This drive was conducted in the Lokhandwala market area in the morning, visited frequently by local residents to purchase fruits and vegetables. The students held placards with messages about use of plastic and the harm it causes the environment. They also spoke to residents, urging them to bring their own cloth bags rather than using plastic bags. Students also spoke to the vendors highlighting the harm caused by plastic and urged them to use alternatives while selling their products. The students believed by changing even one person’s attitude to the use of plastic they would be performing their duty and responsibility of being a global citizen.
